Further Help with Technology

This page gives links to documents similar in style to the various sections in Appendix D of our textbook.  These documents describe how to use the TI-85 calculator for linear algebra computations, and discusses alternate versions of the computer algebra systems discussed in Appendix D.  We hope you find these helpful.

Derive - Version 4.1 :  This PDF file is edited from Appendix D in the second edition of the textbook.

HP 48GX Calculator:  David Hecker used this calculator (and, in the "olden days," the HP 28S) to do most of his computation while writing the textbook and the various manuals.  He has written a set of programs that have helped make using this calculator easy for the kinds of problems that appear in the textbook.  We intend to put these programs on the web in the near future - available to download.

Maple - Versions 5 and 6 :  This PDF file is edited from Appendix D in the second edition of the textbook.

Maple 9:  We have just had Maple 9 installed on our systems.  We will post updates on the differences between Maple 8 and Maple 9 once we have had time to sufficiently test Maple 9.

Mathematica 3.0 :  This PDF file is edited from Appendix D in the second edition of the textbook.

MATLAB - Version 5 :  This PDF file is edited from Appendix D in the second edition of the textbook.

TI-85 Calculator :  This PDF file is edited from Appendix D in the second edition of the textbook.
