Rules & RegulationsLab/Homework: Please note that there is a strong lab/homework component to this course. Depending upon our ability to meet the schedule, we may or may not have lab time during class. Regardless, you will be expected to spend a significant amount of your time on the coursework outside of the regular classroom time. Calculation of your grade: (Please note that the following are approximate.) Each exam will count for 12%. Please note that I do not give make-up exams (which means that you will receive a grade a 0 for any exam that you miss). The comprehensive final exam will count for 25%. Each homework assignment is worth 5%. You are encouraged to work together to some degree but your work must be your own. Plagiarism will not be tolerated with all parties receiving a 0! Lateness: Assignments are due at the beginning of class on the day they are due. Please hand in a stapled print out with your name at the top. If the assignment is a coding assignment, please ensure the following:
Work may be turned in up to one week late. Late work will be penalized by 50%. After one week late, work will not be accepted. Final grades will be given according to the following scale:
Academic Honesty: This course will follow the University's standard policy on academic honesty. In particular, any cheating (includeing plagiarism) or assisting another student's cheating on any assignment, test, or the final exam will be penalized by either a zero on the test, or by failure of the course, at my discretion. Finally, if you cheat twice during this course, you will fail the course. Remember that the University may inflict further penalties other than those listed here under the provisions of the published Academic Honesty Policy. (If this link is not available, a copy may be found here.) Clarification: Webster.com defines plagiarizing as, "to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use (another's production) without crediting the source." Therefore, if you cut-and-paste something from the web, you are plagiarizing. If you copy another student's work, you are plagiarizing. If you have someone else do your work for you, you are plagiarizing. Attendance: You are encouraged but not required to attend every class. Students with Disabilities: If you have a documented disability for which you are or may be requesting reasonable academic adjustments, you are encouraged to contact the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities, 113 Science Center, 610-660-1774 or 610-660-1620 as early as possible in the semester. You may wish to take a look at their website. Classrooms and meeting times: Click here for classrooms, meeting times, and office hours. |
