Window Implementations

I propose to consider the following implementation systems for windows

• The X window system
• The Tcl/Tk scripting languages which run under X
• Java. Let's hear it for portability.
• The Mac User interface, in somewhat less detail;
• The Microsoft Windows

What is common to all these is the idea of widgets . Although only the X system uses the word easily. In the OO world the interface is given through a class library that implements these widgets.
