Course Outline

The course will cover the whole of the book with emphasis on chapters 4, 5, 6 and 7. The course begins with a review of the Open Systems Interconnect model of networks.

Assignments and evaluation

Grades in the course will be based upon a midterm (20%), a final (30%) and five homework assignments each worth 10% of the total grade. Some (but not all) of these assignments will require you to write programs. Final grades will be based upon the following:

A 94 -100
A- 90- 93
B+ 85-89
B 75-84
C 74 or less

Please note that there is no grade of B-.

The Honor Code

Students are reminded that Saint Joseph's has an honor code, which can be found in the catalog. You may collaborate with other students on your homework, however any such collaboration MUST be acknowledged. Failure to do so is a violation of the honor code and will result in a zero for the assignment. When acknowledging aid from someone you should include a sentence of the following form at the beginning of your assignment.
Help on this assignment equivalent to 15% of the effort was received from Lin Doe.
