Directions for “paper” assignments:  Core homework problems should be written in pencil (or typed) on one side of the page only.  Assignments should be stapled with any messy edges removed. Homework assignments are due in class on the day assigned.  Failure to turn in the assignment will result in a one-point reduction.  One additional point will be subtracted for every day it is late.

Homework problems are divided into two types:

  1. Practice problems are to be turned in but may not be graded; you will receive full credit as long as they are reasonably complete.
  2. Core problems should be neatly handwritten in pencil or typed in complete sentences, on one side of the page only.  Copy or paraphrase the problem from the book and provide the solution to the problem.  All core problems will be graded.  I recommend you use Maple to check your answers.

If you are having difficulty with any problem, make sure you get help before the due date.  If you still can’t complete the problem, do as much as you can.

Directions for online quizzes:  There will be two or three online quizzes due each week. Each quiz is worth 1 point toward your weekly homework grade.  Keep working on the quiz until you either (1) have all problems correct, or (2) have spent an hour on the quiz and don’t think you’re going to get the problems right.  Your finished quiz should be emailed to me no later than 4am the night it is assigned (so, for example, if you are supposed to do the quiz on Monday, then you have until 4am Tuesday morning to email the quiz to me).
