Review for Exam 3

Third Exam Review. The third exam will be on Thursday, December 6. Unless you are previously excused or are very ill, no make-ups will be given. You may use basic calculators for the exam. Topics you will be expected to know are as follows. You are also responsible for any other topics we covered in class.

Chapter 10

Create recursive and explicit formulas for linear and exponential growth models.

Find the sum of an arithmetic or geometric series.

Compute compounded interest with a variety of compoundings.

Compute the annual yield of an investment.

Chapter 15

Create and state the sample space for a set of outcomes.

Use the multiplication rule to compute the number of outcomes for various events and counting problems.

Combinations and permutations.

Computing the probability of events like five heads in ten coin tosses or two die summing to seven.

Computing the probability of events like drawing a straight flush.

All problems similar to the quiz and homework questions and any material covered in class.
