We also talked about how the units change when you compute the derivative function and what that function means. The units are important on derivatives.

Yesterday,

The slope of the tangent line and the derivative of the function and the rate of change of the function are all related.

The slope goes up means the derivative is positive, when the slope goes down the derivative is negative and when it is flat the derivative is zero.

Today,

The definition of the derivative uses limits and an approximation of the slope of the tangent line.

Computing derivatives this way requires good algebra skills.
