Brief Business Calculus

Fourth Exam Review. The fourth exam is Wednesday, April 28
You will need a calculator that is capable of doing
logarithms and exponentials. Any calculator capable of doing symbolic
differentiation will not be allowed (for example the TI-89 and above).
You will not have any notes or formulas available to you.
Here is a summary of topics covered in the fourth part of the course.
There may be other topics not listed here. You are responsible for all
material covered in class and on homework.
- Section 9.1 Anti-derivatives. The common formulas for
integrals and computing the indefinite integral (remember the
).
You may in some cases need to calculate the value of the constant,
.
- Section 9.2 Anti-derivatives involving exponentials and
logarithms. There are two primary formulas in this section.
- Section 9.3 Definite Integrals. You will need to know
how to compute the area underneath a curve and how to calculate the
definite integral. I could solve the indefinite integral for you and
then ask you to evaluate the definite integral.
- Section 9.4 More Definite Integrals. You should be able
to find the average value of a function. You will need to be able to
solve an integral that will allow us to find the area between two
curves or the area under a single curve.
- Section 9.6 Substitution. You need to know how to use
this technique and be able to recognize the times when it will not work.
There are going to be a lot of integrals on the exam.
