My Photo Page

Most of these photos are of places that I have traveled over the years

Here is a picture of a good portion of my immediate family from both sides of the Atlantic (not too many others left any more unfortunately):

Back row: (L to R) My baba Sezer, my daughter Hale, my brother-in-law Scot, my son Kerem, my cousin Tülin, my brother Kevin, my daughter Erin, me, my husband Ahmet, my brother Kemal

Front row: (L to R) My nephew Emre, my mother Jeannine, my niece Tülin, my sister Semra

This next picture is taken from Boğaziçi Universitesi (Bosphorus University) in Istanbul, Turkey. Many scholars from all over the world have said that the view from here is the most beautiful from any university in the world. Though this picture is not very good, how many universities are at the top of a mountain that is located on a beautiful waterway (Strait of Bosphorus), can boast that they overlook a fort built in the 1400's, and  look across onto another continent (Boğaziçi is in Europe and looks over onto Asia). WOW! I spent quite a few very happy years here.

A few years ago, my husband and I went back to visit Turkey. While there, we took the equivalent of a "Barefoot Cruise" on a sailboat on the Mediterranean with 4 other couples whom we didn't know ( 3 from Germany and one couple was Argentinian/American). Each couple had there own private cabin with a bathroom/shower. The boat also had a crew of three so we didn't have to cook or clean. We had a great/relaxing four days of sun, fun, and sea.

At one point the a little motor boat came and picked us up to take us to visit some old ruins. Unfortunately, I cannot rememberremeber the name of the amphitheater nor the town it was in.

When my husband and I first met, we went to Hawaii. I LOVED it there. Hawaii has the PERFECT weather. If only is wasn't so far away and so expensive. (Though I am still trying to talk one of my kids into going to college there, and of course it is too expensive to fly them back and forth, so then I'll get a Visiting Instructors position there too.... ahhhh to dream - especially as it's 15 degrees outside right now!)

A couple of years ago I went to St. Thomas. I wasn't overly crazy about St. Thomas, but we spent one day in St. John's. That place is beautiful. See those boats in the bay. That is where my husband and I are going to be living when we retire (and finally pay off all the college bills).

To be fair to St. Thomas, it is a much more lively island, a much more happening spot and there are some very pretty places there too. This is not one of them. This picture was taken from a hotel that was built around the pirate BlueBeard's Castle.  I just thought that is was interesting that BlueBeard really existed - also, the size of some of the cruise ships astounded me!

This picture is from Aruba and is of a natural landmark there they call the "Natural Bridge." Aruba has quite a few interesting things to see, though to see some of them you need to rent a jeep and travel over land and mountains with (what I consider) no roads to get there. (Just think of some of the car commercials for SUVs - that's what I'm talking about!) I had such a great time though there were a few scary moments. BTW, the Natural Bridge was one of the easy ones to get to.

One of my daughters was studying out in Utah for a while so I was going out there about once a month. We would fly into Las Vegas, then drive through Nevada and Arizona to get to Utah. The drive took 1.5 hours. Beautiful country. One time we visited the Virgin River Canyon in Arizona where this picture was taken (with two of my children).
