How to Apply

Are you ready to achieve your educational goals at SJU? Saint Joseph's University offers adult students the ability to take college classes in the evening and online, as a part-time or full-time student, and pay tuition on a per-credit basis. Applications are accepted for the fall, spring, or summer semesters. We encourage applicants to apply several weeks before the term begins for access to class registration, however, applications are considered on a rolling basis

Qualifications for Admission

  • Submit an online application:
  • Official sealed transcript(s) from each college attended

Applicants who have fewer than 30 college-level credits must also submit:

  • Official high school transcript or GED test scores
  • Personal statement of 250 – 500 words. This is an opportunity to communicate why you want to complete your degree and explain your educational objectives and professional goals. Submit this essay to with your full name and address at the top of the document.
  • One letter of recommendation – Must be sent from someone who knows you in a professional manner to the mailing or email address above.

Computer Proficiency

The Adult Learner majors offer online classes that require consistent access to a reliable computer. It is expected that students have adequate computer proficiency. You may participate in online group discussions, upload homework assignments, and communicate via email. Some courses are taught 100% online while others are taught in the classroom with an online component. Academic Qualifications

Saint Joseph's University welcomes applications from qualified students to complete their bachelor's degree through our Adult Learner program. For student who have less than a 2.50 college gpa, we encourage you to complete the additional application requirements as stated above for students with less than 30 college-level credits.

Financial Aid Qualifications

To determine financial aid eligibility, students must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). For students applying to the Adult Learner program who have obtained less than sixty (60) college-level credits, a high school diploma, high school transcript, or GED test score report or equivalent must be sent to the Office of Financial Aid at Saint Joseph's University. Be sure to include your full name and date of birth along with the copy of your high school completion document.  

International Students

International students interested in the Adult Learner Degree Completion Program must submit the requirements as stated above as well as the following documentation:

  • Transcript Evaluation: Transcripts from institutions outside of the US must undergo a course-by-course evaluation conducted by a member of NACES.
  • Proof of English Proficiency: TOEFL or IELTS, or proof of completion of ELS Level 112

If you completed a at least 24 credits at a US institution (including at least one college-level English course) you are not required to submit an English language exam.
