Getting to know Myra ...
Favorite thing to do in Philadelphia?
I love music! So one of my favorite activities is to head down to Penn's Landing in the summer for their free concert series on Friday nights. Recently, I saw Eric Darius, contemporary jazz saxophonist, who gave a great high energy performance. Picture it: the scenic waterfront, the setting sun, warm breezes off the river, and loads of people from every walk of life enjoying the toe-tapping music. It's awesome and it's free. Good times!
Why should I come to Saint Joseph's University?
This is one I get from time to time. I often wonder if it's meant to stump me, but I love this question. It gives me the opportunity to talk about all the exciting, impressive features of a Saint Joseph's education. Afterwards, I then challenge the student to check it out for themselves. I firmly believe it is all about fit. Saint Joseph's is a well respected university, but it may not be right for every single student. That's why the campus visit is so important. Walk around, talk to students, professors, administrators, try us on for size. So you can determine if Saint Joseph's is right for you!
Favorite experience at SJU?
Hosted every spring, the Annual Black Student Union Talent Show is not to be missed. It is a wild assortment of singers, pianists, guitarists, rappers, dancers, poets and bands from our student body and from across the area. It is one of those events that everyone attends even Fr. Lannon, our prior University President. I think it is so cool to see students that you worked with through the admissions process or the students who work in our office, and see their hidden talents. Last year, one of our Hawk Hosts, John Pinto, was a featured performer and won 2nd place. If you ask me, we was robbed, he should have won!
