Occupational History
Emily grew up in south jersey with her parents and two brothers. She knew she wanted to be an occupational therapist since she was a teenager. Working several summers at a camp for teens with special needs cemented her career path.
In order to balance her own occupations with those of her two boys, Charlie and Matthew, she joined them in some of their occupations, taking Tae Kwon Do classes, biking, swimming and hiking with them as often as possible. When able, she enjoys traveling, and trying new restaurants and wines with her husband. On most nights, you can find her reading, grading papers, or catching up on her favorite TV shows.
Emily appreciates her current occupation of teaching; it challenges her every day and pushes her to learn and do more than she thought she could.
Clinical Practice
Emily has been an Occupational Therapist for over 15 years and began her career working in the early intervention area of practice. She then decided to explore working with older adults in skilled nursing facilities. After working in this setting for 5 years, she transitioned to working with adults in the community in the home care setting.
