Emily M. Moscato , Ph.D.
Dr. Moscato focuses her research on consumer wellbeing with particular interest in social and environmental food sustainability and in using alternative data gathering methods for collecting consumer insight and motivating change. Her research in food examines consumption from a consumer culture perspective, contextualizing the socio-cultural influences of food production, consumption, and disposal practices. Current research projects include perceptions of "natural" foods using participant photography, examining influences that lead to food waste, and exploring food practices within consumption communities. Dr. Moscato received her Ph.D. in marketing from Virginia Tech in 2014. Prior to graduate studies, she spent several years working in advertising and public relations account management. Dr. Moscato currently holds the Gerald E. Peck Fellowship.
