TO: Students with Outstanding Disclosures
FROM: Cary Anderson, Ed.D., Vice President of Student Life and Associate Provost
RE: URGENT: Submit Vaccination Status or Exemption Request
DATE: August 10 at 3:10 P.M.
What You Need To Know:
- All members of the SJU community are required to disclose their vaccination status or request an exemption by August 16.
- Any student who has not uploaded their proof of vaccination or requested an exemption will be locked out of The Nest beginning on August 18.
- If you do not submit by August 31, 2021, your course registration will be canceled, and you will not be able to re-enroll until a disclosure or request for exemption is made.
- Non-reporting and unvaccinated students must continue to mask on campus and will be required to participate in arrival and weekly surveillance testing.
- If non-reporting or unvaccinated students miss three surveillance tests, they will be suspended for the semester.
As we have communicated multiple times, all members of the SJU community who will be on campus are required to disclose their vaccination status or request an exemption by August 16. As a reminder, this information is held in confidence and only shared on a need-to-know basis for contact tracing purposes or student health matters.
To date, you have not yet complied with this mandatory requirement. Please note: any student who does not submit proof of vaccination or request an exemption will be locked out of The Nest beginning August 18. If you do not submit by August 31, 2021, your course registration will be canceled, and you will not be able to re-enroll until a disclosure or request for exemption is made. (If you uploaded your vaccination disclosure or made a request for an exception in the past 48 hours, this information may not have been processed yet. If you do not receive an email from the University in the next two days, please resubmit.)
What if you have been approved for a fully remote schedule and will not be on campus for any purpose?
If you have been approved for a fully remote schedule and will not be on campus for any purpose, you may report this on the vaccination disclosure form by selecting the exemption button and then indicating you will be fully remote. Once your fully remote status has been verified, you will have met the disclosure requirement.
What if you have received only one dose of a two-dose vaccine sequence?
If you have received one dose of the vaccine or have not been able to receive a vaccine yet and plan to do so at the beginning of the school year, please submit a medical exemption on the disclosure form and provide the details of your vaccination plan (e.g., have one dose, second dose will be in two weeks, will vaccinate when I return to campus). You will still need to mask and participate in arrival and weekly surveillance testing until you upload your vaccination information and are fully vaccinated, but you will not be locked out of The Nest if you provide this information via a medical exemption by August 16.
Finally, for the unvaccinated and any student who has not submitted proof of vaccination, arrival and weekly surveillance testing is mandatory. We will not tolerate a lack of participation. If you miss three tests you will be suspended for the rest of the semester. As with the surveillance testing last year, you will not be required to test if you provide proof of being COVID-19 positive in the last 90 days, are currently in isolation or quarantine, or have a fully remote schedule. Information about testing will be provided by email.
I have every confidence that our community will do the right thing, and I look forward to seeing you on campus. Thank you for your support and commitment to keeping our community safer and healthier during these trying times.
