RE: New Masking Protocols for Start of Fall Semester
DATE: August 11, 2021 at 8:00 P.M.

We continue to monitor the ever-changing COVID-19 environment in preparation for the new academic year. The City of Philadelphia announced today that a masking mandate would go into effect at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021. Therefore all faculty, staff, students and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, are now required to wear masks indoors, except when in your own private offices or in your own residence hall room. Masks are still recommended for all when gathering outside in large groups where physical distancing is not possible.

The University will continue to follow all national and local regulations and monitor scientific evidence and our own vaccination rates and case counts, modifying our masking protocols when appropriate. It is our hope that we can loosen restrictions as we move through the semester.

Thank you for your support and commitment to keeping our community safer and healthier during these trying times.
