They can also provide tips on how to best support your immune system during this time.
Emotional Wellness
We understand that many of our faculty and staff may be struggling during this time. We want to highlight some of the benefits and services you have access to through our providers.
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) connects you with the resources, support and guidance you might need if you're struggling with grief, loss, emotional well-being and more. A full list of services provided under the University's EAP can be found here.
If you're looking for ongoing support, you can also access tele-behavioral health services through our insurance provider, Independence Blue Cross.

Some employees may work from home due to a health-related accommodation, the need for physical distancing within an office, or due to government restrictions.
Here are some tips to help you balance work and home while telecommuting:
- Set boundaries for yourself at home.
- Maintain access to natural light when possible.
- Take the time to video chat with friends and family.
- Avoid staying in bed, and yes change out of those pajamas.
- Stay active.
- Take advantage of meditation and mindfulness apps offering free trials.
- Eat regularly and remember to break for lunch!
- Sign off when the workday is over. Office hours apply at home too.
-
- ADA Reasonable Accommodation: The Office of Human Resources will engage in an interactive process to determine whether an employee is a qualified individual with a disability for the purposes of providing a reasonable accommodation.
- Family Medical Leave (FMLA): Employees may be eligible for an unpaid leave of absence of up to 12 weeks under the Family and Medical Leave Act, for reasons including but not limited to care for themselves, care for a spouse, son, daughter or parent with a serious health condition or a chronic condition. In addition, an employee may be eligible for up to 26 weeks of FMLA to care for a covered service member.
- Personal non-FMLA Leave: Requests for a leave of absence without pay (for reasons other than those covered by the FMLA policy, or unrelated to a medical condition) can be submitted to the department head, and approved by the provost, dean, and/or area vice president. If granted, please contact the Office of Human Resources regarding your benefits.
- Telecommuting: Telecommuting is an arrangement that allows employees to work from home or an alternate work site using telecommunications and computer technology. Not all positions are amenable to telecommuting. Permanent and temporary telecommuting arrangements are subject to the approval of the department head, dean and the provost/vice president.
