Pre-Health Science Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

Career paths in the health sciences are seemingly endless and always in demand. The Professional and Liberal Studies department offers the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Science Certificate program to assist adults who wish to enter medical school. A conferred Bachelor’s degree in a non-science field with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 is required to qualify for admission consideration.  

The post-baccalaureate certificate allows students to complete prerequisites in biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry and physics, for entrance into medical school. One elective in the social sciences, math or an additional science course is required to help prepare for medical school entrance exams.

Please note, students interested in this certificate must have a schedule that allows for daytime classes. Also, by taking advantage of summer classes, students may complete the certificate within five semesters (1 ½ years).

Over 86% of Saint Joseph’s University Professional and Liberal Studies and Haub Degree Completion Graduates were employed full-time at the date of graduation. Whereas, 3% of the Professional and Liberal Studies class of 2017 have chosen to further their education by attending graduate school on a full-time basis while 6% have decided to delay their job search.
