With a combination of studio courses and art history classes, the Department of Fine & Performing Arts offers the opportunity to explore the depth and breadth of your individual talent and calling as an artist or art historian in a dynamic and supportive environment.
The department's faculty have exhibited their work in prestigious galleries and published their writings around the globe. This diverse group of painters, ceramicists, photographers, sculptors and art historians are also dedicated teachers who challenge and inspire students to develop their self-expression and personal aesthetic. Seniors enroll in a yearlong capstone course, which culminates in an exhibition of their work in the University's professional gallery or a presentation and paper representing original research.
In addition to pursuing graduate and professional work in the arts, majors have developed careers in a wide range of art-related areas, including advertising, commercial photography, gallery and museum work, graphic/web design, interior design, fashion design, architecture and teaching.
