Marketing Group Offers Program with SJU

6-session program combines academics with case studies

PHILADELPHIA (October 4, 2010) - To succeed in today’s competitive business world, it is necessary to possess a strong strategic focus. The Philadelphia Chapter of the American Marketing Association (PAMA) recently announced a program, starting October 22, to hone and develop the competitive advantage of area marketers.  In cooperation with the Erivan K. Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University, PAMA will be offering a new “Certificate in Marketing Excellence” program. The six-session program will review the basics of strategic planning, offer best practices perspectives on planning elements, and encourage participants to apply these concepts to the development of an actual marketing plan for “Coaches vs. Cancer of Philadelphia.”          

“We are excited to offer this type of professional development program that combines the academics of Saint Joseph’s University with real-life experiences of some of the area’s top executives in an affordable, cost-effective manner,” says Craig Barton, president of PAMA.

“We are thrilled to work with PAMA to deliver this program. Each module will provide a combination of conceptual foundations and best practices, coupled with a hands-on experience that attendees will be able to apply when they return to their jobs on Monday morning,” says Michael Solomon, Ph.D., director of the Center for Consumer Research, and professor of marketing.

Participants who successfully complete the program will receive an official certificate of completion from PAMA and SJU. The registration fee is $175 for each session for American Marketing Association (AMA) members and SJU alumni and $225 for non-members/non-alumni. The bundle cost for the full program is $750 for AMA members and SJU alumni before September 30 and $825 after September 30. The bundle cost for non-member/non-alumni is $900 before September 30 and $975 after that date. More information is available at
