Saint Joseph's Set to Celebrate Class of 2017 Commencement Ceremonies May 20

PHILADELPHIA (May 13, 2017) — Saint Joseph's University will celebrate the Class of 2017 on Saturday, May 20 by conferring more than 2,200 degrees at its 2017 commencement ceremonies.

The undergraduate ceremony will begin at 9 a.m., and the graduate ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. Both events will be held on the James J. Maguire ’58 Campus. Additional seating will be available in the Cardinal John Foley Campus Center and in Merion Hall, where the ceremonies will be live streamed.

Madeline Bell, president and CEO of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, will deliver the morning commencement address for SJU's undergraduate ceremony at 9 a.m. Bell will receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree, along with Cora Marie Billings, R.S.M., a member of the Religious Sisters of Mercy for more than 60 years and a founder of the National Black Sisters’ Conference, and J. Eustace Wolfington ’56 (B.S.), a dedicated alumnus and longtime supporter of his alma mater known as an innovator in the retail automobile, car leasing and insurance industries.

At the afternoon doctoral and graduate ceremony, alumna Linda Cliatt-Wayman ’92 (M.S.), principal of Strawberry Mansion High School and noted education advocate, will serve as the speaker. Cliatt-Wayman will also receive Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degrees.
