Wednesday, March 7, 2012

PHILADELPHIA (March 7, 2012)– Saint Joseph’s University and Cumberland County College (CCC) now support a dual admissions partnership. The agreement allows students at the two-year school based in Vineland, N.J., to transfer to complete a four-year degree through Saint Joseph’s University College of Professional and Liberal Studies (CPLS).

At a signing ceremony today at Cumberland County College, Saint Joseph’s confirmed the official agreement that allows participating students earning a degree in one of several designated associate degree majors to transfer credits to CPLS for credit. After graduating from CCC, eligible students may transfer to Saint Joseph’s campus-based Bachelor of Science Criminal Justice program or Saint Joseph’s online Bachelor of Science in Professional and Liberal Studies, which focuses on communications, English and organizational development and leadership.

“The dual admissions partnership will provide incredible opportunities for residents to earn advanced degrees from Saint Joseph’s University, which they can begin at Cumberland County College,” says CCC President Thomas Isekenegbe, Ph.D. “Cumberland County College and Saint Joseph’s University are committed to offering quality educational programs that prepare students for meaningful, in-demand careers.”

“This transfer partnership represents a tremendous opportunity for both institutions to work together to address the education needs of New Jersey residents,” says Paul DeVito, Ph.D., vice provost and dean of the College of Professional and Liberal Studies at Saint Joseph’s University. “With this partnership, Saint Joseph’s University will continue to provide strong academic foundations to help each student achieve their educational and career goals — all while maintaining flexible class schedule options.”             Renewable merit scholarships are available for qualifying transfer students taking classes on main campus during the fall and spring semesters. To be eligible, students must have a transferrable GPA of at least 3.0 and be enrolled in at least six credits during the applicable semester. Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 are also available for qualifying transfer students entering the online Bachelor’s in Professional and Liberal Studies.
