Wednesday, February 13, 2013

PHILADELPHIA (February 13, 2013) – Today’s dynamic, fast-paced, competitive and increasingly global business world demands high-quality, competitive pricing, fast turnaround and on-time delivery. An efficient supply chain allows a company to fine-tune its entire operation and restructure it to focus on its core competencies, ensuring sustained competitive advantage.  To aid and advance knowledge and educational opportunities for managers working to refine their company’s supply chain, Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) has partnered with ISM-Philadelphia, the local chapter of the Institute of Supply Management (ISM).

Working together, SJU and ISM Philadelphia are providing educational opportunities through monthly meetings, web resources and professional development opportunities for more than 400 ISM supply chain professionals in Philadelphia. Through the partnership, ISM Philadelphia members receive a 20 percent discount on tuition toward the Saint Joseph’s Supply Chain Procurement certificate, which can be completed conveniently online.

“ISM is dedicated to the professional advancement of supply chain professionals and is proud to partner with Saint Joseph’s University to provide additional educational opportunities to its members,” said Ronald Baldwin (President, ISM-Philadelphia). “Saint Joseph’s University’s academic rigor, support of continuing adult learning and expert faculty will provide valuable education for our niche market.”

The Supply Chain Procurement certificate, offered through the College of Professional and Liberal Studies at SJU, provides managers, supervisors and employees with the skills to analyze legal, ethical and contractual considerations when managing risks and forming contingency plans. It also prepares professionals to sit for the Institute for Supply Chain Management’s Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified in Supply Management (CSM) examination series.

“The Supply Chain Procurement certificate through Saint Joseph’s University is one of only a few online certificate programs in the supply chain industry. It is a unique opportunity for supply chain professionals to advance their education and career from the convenience of their work or home and prepare them for the ISM examination series,” said Art Martin, director of online programs for the College or Professional and Liberal Studies at Saint Joseph’s University.
