Spring Career Fair Brings 150 Employers to SJU Campus

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

PHILADELPHIA (February 11, 2014) – Employers representing an array of industries and organizations, including financial services, non-profits, government agencies, retail, food marketing and advertising will be on the Saint Joseph’s University campus on Thursday, Feb. 20 for the Spring Career Fair.

The Career Fair will take place in the SJU Athletic Center, 54th Street off of City Avenue, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

“We are encouraged by the number of employers who are hiring, and are happy to both welcome back our loyal recruiting partners as well as many organizations new to recruitment at Saint Joseph's University,” says Trish Shafer, executive director of the Career Development Center.  “While the spring career fair offers an important opportunity for graduating students to connect with employers who are recruiting for full-time positions, juniors and sophomores are also in demand.”

With more than 50 percent of the employers attending the fair seeking talent for summer and fall internships, underclassmen represent an important talent pool. “We’re seeing a strong trend of employers hiring interns to test-drive them for three months.  If all goes well, junior level students hired into internships this summer could receive offers for full-time positions that start in June of 2015,” adds Shafer.

The Career Fair is expected to attract more than 900 job seekers – students from freshmen to seniors, grad students and alumni. Among the over 150 employers attending are ACE Group, Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, Clinique Inc., Devereux, Johnson & Johnson, Northwestern Mutual, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, SAP America, Inc., United States Secret Service, Vanguard and Wawa.
