How the Local Food Movement Is Changing the Way We Shop

Grocery shopping seems pretty simple: You drive to the local supermarket, walk the aisles, pick items from your list and head for the checkout. But, over the past few years, consumers have shifted their focus from convenience to sustainability, preferring locally-grown food more and more over familiar national brands.

Last month, Saint Joseph’s University’s Alumni Association hosted an immersive dinner experience in Boston as part of its ongoing SJU Live series, which brings faculty and alumni experts together to discuss timely topics. The issue at hand was "farm to fork" and how growers, grocers and big box stores are responding to customer demand. The "Good to Know" podcast talked with the event's panelists in the weeks leading up to the dinner about their expertise.
