Collegiate Future Business Leaders of America, Phi Beta Lambda, aims to help students build professional and personal skills for the future. Luzdary Illesca '22 (PhB) shared a bit about USciences’ Phi Beta Lambda chapter.
Describe Phi Beta Lambda- what is the purpose or mission?
Phi Beta Lambda is committed to creating the leaders of tomorrow through career and professional development.
Why should people join?
By joining this org, you’ll find yourself maximizing your time. It’s not like a class at all, but you learn so much from peers and professors. You don’t have to be in business in order to join! This organization will help you be independent, a leader, and a reliable asset to any future projects. Everyone is willing to help you learn and grow in the process.
What do you like most about Phi Beta Lambda?
Since freshman year I felt like I found a community of people like me who chose this major. It’s a pretty small group of us who proceed with this and it helps us for unity. I enjoy resume building events where we have the chance to have professors and older peers look at them and give us critical feedback to help us professionally.
What are the members like?
Our members are like any other student at USciences- determined to get the best out of their time at this institution. In new members, determination and willingness to learn new things in the healthcare world is helpful. Keeping an open mind to guest speakers and making sure to be active by asking questions. We always want our members to feel included in any of our events!
What kind of events do you participate in throughout the year?
We host a resume building workshop, we have guest alumni come in, and we have guest speakers from pharmaceutical companies. Getting to speak with people who have been in the industry is helpful. Everyday things change and we get a glimpse of how it used to be, and how it will be in the future.
