COVID-19 Updates and Mitigation Protocols
The Career Center at Saint Joseph's University is committed to providing our employer partners with the most up-to-date information regarding the University's requirements and decisions regarding COVID-19. The following information will be helpful to employer representatives that are considering coming back to campus to participate in interviews or in-person events this semester.
Vaccination Requirement
Saint Joseph's University required all students, faculty, and staff to provide verification of COVID-19 vaccination prior to the Fall 2021 semester and verification of a COVID-19 booster at the beginning of the Spring 2022 semester. A high vaccination rate allows our community to more fully enjoy the benefits of an on-campus experience and more confidently relax previous safety protocols.
Mask Protocols for Employers, Alumni & Guests
Given declining numbers regionally and nationally, our very high community vaccination rate, and updated guidance from the CDC, City of Philadelphia, and Montgomery County, the University will no longer require masks be worn indoors in all shared or common spaces at all times. Beginning March 3rd, 2022, masks will be optional on campus with the stipulations and exceptions described below.
The University will continue to follow all national and local regulations and monitor scientific evidence and our own vaccination rates and case counts, modifying our masking protocols when appropriate.
COVID-19 Mitigation Measures for Interviews & On-Campus Events
To reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 and to show respect for all members of our campus community, the Career Center requests that all visiting employer representatives follow this protocol while on campus:
- Refrain from shaking hands. We know that this can make for an awkward introduction, but it is helpful in reducing the spread of the virus at this time. Students attending events and interviews will also be encouraged to refrain from shaking hands with employers.
- Use sanitizing wipes on door handles, tables and chairs in between interviews with students.
- Bring a mask to campus. All members of the Saint Joseph’s community must carry a mask at all times. Any student, staff, or faculty member may request those around them to wear a mask when in classrooms, meeting in private offices or other shared spaces. Members of the University community may always choose to wear masks as they deem personally.
- If a student is wearing a mask, do not ask if he/she/they have been vaccinated. This is a personal decision and should not be interpreted as an indication of anyone's vaccination, medical or exemption status.
