Welcome to The Sports Complex
Home of Campus Recreation

The Saint Joseph's University Student Sports/Recreation Complex and its staff extend a welcome to the students, faculty, staff and community. The Sports Complex will, at times, close or curtail certain recreational areas due to University-wide activities. With a primary goal of serving the recreational and athletic needs of Saint Joseph's University, the following facilities are available in the Sports Complex:

  • a 240 by 120 four-court multi-purpose area for basketball, tennis, and volleyball;
  • an 8-lane 25-meter indoor pool with a 300 seat observation area;
  • four racquetball courts;
  • spacious locker rooms and saunas;
  • improved fitness center featuring brand new free weights, Nautilus resistance equipment, Precor treadmills, stairmasters, stationary bicycles, rowing machines, and elliptical machines;
  • four outdoor tennis courts.

Additionally, the Recreation Office sponsors instructional programs, special events, an extensive intramural program, sports club offerings, and an outdoor recreation program.

One objective of the Recreation program is to reinforce the educational mission of Saint Joseph's University, which emphasizes development of the total person Spirit, Mind, and Body. Experiences gained through participation provide a base of knowledge and skills necessary to function responsibly in society. Many of the recreational components essential to this concept are not stressed through academia. Therefore, the Recreation component of the Athletic Department strives to identify, schedule, promote, and implement a diverse offering of activities, which facilitate this educational mission.
