Office of Veterans Services
Saint Joseph’s University’s Office of Veterans Services aims to be the most veteran-friendly university in the region, offering a comprehensive suite of programs and services that successfully attracts military veterans, those currently serving, family members, and survivors to pursue their academic goals and achieve their career development and personal objectives.
Empowering Veteran Entrepreneurs
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Office of Veterans Services and its annual entrepreneurship bootcamp embody Saint Joseph’s Jesuit values, fostering ethical business practices and community support for veterans.
Five decades after surviving a year as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War, the St. Joe’s graduate and former head of the Office of Veterans Services is being recognized for a lifetime of giving back.
After six years in the armed forces and a battle with depression, Army veteran David Burnett started his own company through the support of Saint Joseph’s Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans and mentor Frank Trainer ’68.
Pat Swanick ’79 ’82 (MBA) and wife Diana honor their fathers’ service by supporting entrepreneurial training for veterans.
Air Force ROTC Detachment
Detachment 750 began at Saint Joseph’s University in 1951 and is the only Air Force ROTC detachment in the Philadelphia area. The 23 crosstown universities have agreements with detachment at Saint Joseph's, meaning if you join AFROTC at Det 750, you'll train and work with a variety of students. You will receive exceptional leadership training from the Detachment 750 staff as well. Det 750 was recognized as the best AFROTC detachment in the Northeast Region (among similarly sized detachments) by winning the 2011 High Flight Award.
