Changing the Lives of Children

Inspired by her nephew who has autism spectrum disorder, Emily Ngo BS ’14, MOT ’17 was among the first students enrolled in Saint Joseph’s autism studies program. Today, she is a pediatric occupational therapist, business owner and clinic director of Ivy Rehab for Kids’ pediatric outpatient clinic.

Ngo graduated from Saint Joseph’s with a double major in autism behavioral studies and interdisciplinary health services. Her role in the industry allows her to work with children and their families to improve the child’s independence and quality of life, as well as provide mentorship and education to other occupational therapists.

“The autism behavioral studies program allows for unique, hands-on experiences and learning with autistic children and adults at the Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support,” says Ngo. “I believe my time and work at the Kinney Center was essential in my acceptance to occupational therapy programs in the area.”

Ngo went directly into her master’s of occupational therapy program after graduating and considers herself a lifelong learner and educator.

“I love helping other people grow to become the best version of themselves,” she says. “Whether it's with children learning a new skill or a therapist furthering their confidence, I get to see people living toward their full potential every day.”
