Sabrina Schielein

Class of 2018

Marketing Manager for GGV Capital

From On Air to Times Square

As a first-generation American of Italian descent, Sabrina Schielein, BBA ’18, is passionate about carving her own path. Her work ethic and zest for forging a career that challenges her creativity are the driving forces behind her positions in media and production.

Perhaps it is Schielein’s intrinsic respect for hard work that can explain why she got such fulfillment out of her role as a broadcast events producer at Nasdaq

“Being able to see companies experience the best days of their lives, going public or just being at Nasdaq to celebrate success, was very special to be a part of,” she says of running the daily financial network bell ceremonies.

Schielein attributes reaching a point in her career where was doing rewarding work so quickly to her time at SJU. She graduated from Saint Joseph's with a marketing major and was a Maguire Academy Risk Management Scholarship recipient. She was also highly involved on campus as a member of the business co-op program, the cheerleading team, the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity, the Tri Sigma sorority and served as the co-chair of the annual spring concert committee.

“Saint Joseph’s provided me with the essential foundation, tools and skills in order to hit the ground running in my marketing career,” says Schielein.

Following graduation, Schielein joined UBS’s O’Connor hedge fund as a marketing specialist creating pitch decks and content. She quickly developed a drive to do more, and began volunteering with the events team. She then went on to work for HSBC, where she split her full-time job between events and marketing campaigns for their high-networth banking clients. It is there she found her calling for producing something that people want to be a part of.

During the pandemic, Schielein joined Nasdaq and made her way up to senior broadcast producer for the globally televised Opening and Closing Bell Ceremonies, IPO celebrations, behind-the-scenes interviews and other VIP experiences. With a hunger to do more, Schielein started her own podcast as the host and producer. She feels that being both in front of the camera and behind it gives her clarity and freedom to bring her vision to life.

Today, Schielein serves as a marketing jack-of-all-trades for GGV Capital U.S., covering podcast production, social media management, event planning, content creation and strategy consulting for startups and pre-IPO companies.

To top off Schielein’s determination to set and finish goals, she ran the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon with Nasdaq, her first marathon of many to come. She raised $5,000 for the charity Girls on the Run, which teaches young girls how to overcome obstacles and build their social skills.

Looking back at her professional journey thus far, Schielein feels as though she has prescient advice for anyone who is also looking for the job that satisfies them both personally and professionally.

“Too many of us settle in roles where we’re not creatively challenged and excited, even when we might desperately crave it.” Schielein explains. “If an interview I conduct can offer advice that resonates with people, and ultimately change their life for the better, then I have done a good job.”
