The two-year Medical Communications and Scientific Exchange (MCSE) Fellowship in Solid Tumor Oncology at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine offers unique rotational experiences that enable the fellow to develop and apply skills across various roles, including Medical Communications, Scientific Communications, and Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Communications and other Medical Affairs functional areas as applicable. The fellow will gain valuable experience within the Solid Tumor Oncology franchise, contributing to both marketed and investigational therapies for bladder, prostate, and lung cancers. This role will involve evaluating scientific literature, creating and reviewing medical content, and helping to shape overall medical strategy. The fellow may have the opportunity to support Medical Information booths at national medical conferences. The fellow will also develop the skills to responsibly, compliantly, and effectively leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and support various MCSE activities.

The First-Year Experience:           

The fellow will develop skills in scientific literature evaluation, medical writing and review of promotional/proactive materials. Additionally, the fellow will develop and review content for a variety of audiences, including healthcare professionals, healthcare decision-makers, guideline developers and internal business partners. Responsibilities include analyzing and interpreting medical literature, authoring scientific response letters, and developing MSL resources such as infographics and slide decks.

The Second-Year Experience: 

During the second year, the fellow will continue to be an active member of the team, directly supporting the development and execution of strategic initiatives. The fellow will assist in preparing scientific materials and contributing to publication and conference planning efforts. The fellow will help prepare scientific materials, contribute to publication and congress planning, and develop scientifically robust content, including slide decks, infographics, and other medical resources for healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders.

• In the Scientific Communications component, the fellow will support the planning and execution of scientific data releases, such as publications and conference presentations. They will work closely with internal teams to ensure these communications effectively convey key research findings.

• In the MSL Communications component, the fellow will gain experience in creating scientifically accurate and engaging materials for external healthcare professionals to be used during scientific exchange. This involves collaborating with Medical Affairs to craft slide decks, infographics, and other medical resources.

This 2-year position will provide the fellow with experience within MCSE team, with opportunities for rotational experiences across Medical Affairs: 

Medical Communications 

• Develop skills in scientific literature retrieval, analysis, and communication

• Develop scientific writing skills through the development and review of scientific response letters and other materials

• Support medical review for scientific exchange and promotional materials

MSL Communications

• Collaborate with business partners within Medical Affairs and develop scientific exchange materials, including slide decks, infographics, and other resources
• Partner with and coordinate vendors to support the development of scientific exchange materials and other resources

Scientific Communications

• Contribute to the planning and execution of key data communications, including publications and congress presentations

• Collaborate with U.S. Medical Affairs teams and other internal key stakeholders on strategic and ad hoc projects
