Financial Services M.S.
Saint Joseph's master of science in financial services (MSFS) is designed to prepare students for success in the fast-paced, dynamic financial sector. Students will develop the skills to be flexible in diverse business environments, anticipate future business challenges and advance their companies as competent, ethical leaders.
The financial crisis of 2008 uncovered vulnerabilities within this industry. Saint Joseph's CFP¨-certified* program teaches professionals about more than best practices. MSFS students graduate prepared to create solutions, introduce new capabilities, improve client relationships, and ultimately, contribute to their organization's bottom line.
Saint Joseph's MSFS program is one of few in the nation that is both AACSB-accredited and CFP¨-certified. This unique program offers students advanced credentials by building on professional planning, analytical and financial experience, ethical considerations and social justice. Through the curriculum, students explore:
- Portfolio Management
- Financial Institutions and Capital Markets
- Mergers and Acquisitions
- Risk Management
- Pension and Benefits Administration
- International Finance
- Tax Planning for Management Decision Making
- Stakeholder Theory and Social Responsibility
Students have the flexibility of attending evening or weekend classes at the University's main campus in Philadelphia, the satellite campus in Collegeville, Pa., or online. The MSFS format is based on four semesters per year, including two accelerated summer sessions.
*Saint Joseph's University does not certify individuals - CFP¨ certification is granted solely by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to individuals who, in addition to completing an educational requirement such as this CFP Board-Registered Program, have met ethics, experience and examination requirements.
