The Union League of Philadelphia
Saint Joseph's University honors Kara Raiguel, President & Chief Executive Officer of General Re Corporation, with the Haub School of Business Maguire Academy of Insurance and Risk Management Executive of the Year Award.
Kara Raiguel has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of General Re Corporation since May 2016. Previously, Kara spent 16 years in Berkshire Hathaway’s Reinsurance Division in Stamford, CT, where she prospected reinsurance and insurance opportunities and priced loss portfolio transfers and acquisitions. During this tenure, she was responsible for Guard Insurance Group, the Division’s India reinsurance portfolio, Berkshire Hathaway’s financial guaranty insurer, BHAC. Kara also established a California Workers’ Compensation portfolio for National Liability & Fire Insurance Company. Kara began her career in 1994 with CIGNA Property & Casualty in Philadelphia, PA. She obtained an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Ursinus College and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
