Our Applied Mathematics concentration is easy to complete—mathematics majors can earn it by simply choosing three of their existing program electives, with no extra courses required.

About Our Concentration in Applied Mathematics
Concentration in Applied Mathematics is an option for mathematics majors to focus on applied mathematics. It consists of one required course and two elective courses
One required course:
- MAT 238 Differential Equations
Two MAT elective courses selected from the following:
- MAT 311 Numerical Analysis
- MAT 313 Mathematical Optimization
- MAT 316 Operations Research
- MAT 410 Complex Analysis
- MAT 420 Convex Analysis & Optimization
Mathematics majors can complete the concentration by selecting three of their math program electives to be the three courses satisfying the concentration requirements. Because of this math majors can obtain the concentration without taking any additional courses - only taking their math program requirements.
