5 Questions with Hannah Tomkovicz, BCBA

Hannah Tomkovicz came to the Kinney Center as an undergraduate in 2013 when she started out as a SCHOLAR. Since then, she has held many positions at the Kinney Center, and she now holds the title of Associate Director of Programs. We asked Hannah a few questions about her Kinney experience and what she hopes for her clients in the future, so read on to see what she has to say!

1. What drew you to the special education/autism field?

I transferred to SJU as a business major, I had a personal connection to autism which drew me to apply as a SCHOLAR in 2013. I fell in love with the Kinney Center, ABA, and working with individuals with autism. From the experience working at the Kinney Center as a SCHOLAR I decided to change my major to Autism Behavior Studies and pursue a career in ABA. I stayed at the Kinney Center as a graduate assistant from 2016-2018. I became a BCBA in 2018 and am excited to be working as an Associate Director here at Kinney.

2. What is your proudest moment at Kinney?

Becoming a BCBA and moving through all of the positions, starting with being a SCHOLAR in 2013 to Associate Director in 2019

3. What is on your professional wish list for the next few years?

To have our adult clients live the most fulfilling and independent lives they can and set them up for success.

4. What is one thing that surprised you about working at Kinney?

If you would have told me when I started in 2013, I would be working here as a BCBA in 2020, I would have thought that was crazy. I am surprised at how we have grown and especially the impact we can have on the adult autism population.

5. What is your favorite activity to do outside of the Kinney Center?

Pure Barre, SoulCycle, and watching the birds.
