Overview

The Libraries' collections consist of print, microform, audiovisual and electronic materials, and artifacts. The collections are developed and maintained according to the Collection Development Policy, and primarily support the instructional and research needs of the curriculum.  You may use this form to suggest a purchase.

Print Collection

The general Circulating Book Collection, classified by topic, is split between the F.A Drexel Library, Hawk Hill campus and the J.W. England Library (closed stacks) and Griffith Library, University City location. Books can be borrowed by SJU students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Electronic Resources

Electronic resources include ebooks, online journals, research databases, and streaming audio and video. Access to these materials is restricted to current SJU students, faculty and staff. Off-campus use requires logging in with your SJU username/password.

Archives and Special Collections

The Archives and Special Collections collects, maintains, preserves, and provides access to university records and materials of enduring administrative and historical and community value, in an effort to keep them as part of the institution's historical record. Materials are housed in closed areas that are only accessible to staff members; they cannot be checked out but may be used in our reading rooms. Access to materials may be restricted by condition of gift or deposit, because of their physical condition, or for other reasons.

The Archives Collection consists of departmental records, photographs, manuscripts, University publications (including The Hawk student newspaper, yearbooks, and course catalogs), University memorabilia, and newspaper clippings that record the ever evolving intellectual and physical landscape of the University.

Special Collections consists of a variety of rare and unique books. Most materials under the care of the unit are available for use within the library. However, there are some materials that may require supervision by archives/special collections personnel.
