Application for Student or Intern Teaching

This is the universal student teaching application for all SJU students wishing to student teach. This includes, but is not limited to, undergrads, graduates, local, distance, online, elementary education, secondary education and special education.

Fall 2026: Application Form

Applications for Spring 2026 student teaching are NO longer being accepted by the Office of Clinical Experiences. If you are planning to student teach in the Fall 2026 semester applications for Fall 2026 will be available in the next few weeks. 

 

 

 

Criteria for Applicants

Prior to securing a placement, students MUST meet the following criteria

For All Students

  • G.P.A. of 3.00 or higher
  • Complete all of the required Education coursework (please see advisor)

For Secondary Education Undergraduate and Secondary Education PLS Students

  • An endorsement letter from your content department chair stating that you have at least a 2.75 G.P.A. in your content area.

About Resumes and Cover Letters

Undergraduate students are required to upload resumes and cover letters at the time of submitting their application. 

Resumes and cover letters may be requested for graduate student placements, but they are not required. No resume or cover letter is necessary if you teach in your own classroom.

Teaching Clearances

Clearances valid through the end of the student teaching semester must be in your possession and uploaded to EXXAT prior to starting student teaching. Full details can be found on the Background Clearance webpage.
