Application for Student or Intern Teaching

This is the universal student teaching application for all SJU students wishing to student teach. This includes, but is not limited to, undergrads, graduates, local, distance, online, elementary education, secondary education and special education.

Applications for Spring 2025 student teaching are now being accepted by the Office of Clinical Experiences. If you are planning to student teach during the Spring 2025 semester, The application is open. Applications are due by: May 15, 2024  (NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED PAST THIS DATE-NO EXCEPTIONS)

Criteria for Applicants

Prior to securing a placement, students MUST meet the following criteria

For All Students

• G.P.A. of 3.00 or higher
• Complete all of the required Education coursework (please see advisor)

For Undergraduate and PLS Students

• Basic Skills Test (All students accepted into the Education Program the Basic Skills Test will be waived until June 2025)

For Secondary Education Undergraduate and Secondary Education PLS Students

• An endorsement letter from your content department chair stating that you have at least a 2.75 G.P.A. in your content area.

About Resumes and Cover Letters

Resumes and cover letters are required to be uploaded at the time of submitting this application. If you are teaching in your own classroom, no cover letter or resume is required.

Teaching Clearances

Clearances valid through the end of the student teaching semester must be in your possession and uploaded to Blackboard prior to starting student teaching. Full details can be found on the Background Clearance webpage.
