Dear Students,

Welcome to the School of Health Studies and Education, the newest degree-granting academic unit at Saint Joseph’s University. I am excited to join this diverse and inclusive community of faculty, staff, and students who are committed to learning, community engagement, research, and service.

A Foundation for Growth

Created from four existing academic departments and supporting the renowned Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support, and the University’s Alliance for Catholic Education (ACESJU) program, the School of Health Studies and Education combines rigorous academic preparation with reflective professional development in health and education.

Collaborative, hands-on approach

Paramount to our identity is a focus on interdepartmental collaboration and hands-on learning. We seek to create a dynamic learning environment for our students, and the Jesuit concept of cura personalis, caring for the whole person, is foundational to the way we prepare future health professionals, educators, leaders and scholars.

The School of Health Studies and Education offers traditional and adult learners opportunities to pursue undergraduate degree programs, graduate programs, and certificate programs. Students are encouraged to understand themselves as reflective practitioners in the context of a global community and to develop collaborative skills through inter-professional experiences. Using the resources available within Saint Joseph University’s unique urban and suburban environment, students engage in real world experiences through service learning, internships, and clinical practice.

Creating impact, finding success

Our faculty are committed to student success and will work closely with students at all levels to create engaged programs of study. The student experience is our first priority. We provide a transformative experience through academic programs that are nationally recognized, classroom and real-world experiences facilitated by distinguished faculty. Our students participate in hands on research, field work and other experiential opportunities that give them the chance to impact to their communities. Our students, faculty, and alumni are committed to impacting the lives of children, adults, and families through competent, compassionate, and ethical care, and pursuit of social justice.

Connect with us as we learn, reflect, develop, and act in service to others.
