Provost Advisory Council on Inclusion and Diversity
The Provost Advisory Council for Inclusion and Diversity (PACID) creates and sustains a forum for campus-level dialogue and action on issues directly related to diversity, equity and inclusion at Saint Joseph’s University, specifically to:
- Build on institutional strengths of SJU as a Catholic Jesuit university committed to an affirming and inclusive community as articulated in the university’s “Statement on Diversity and Inclusion.”
- Propose opportunities to increase the representation of diverse populations throughout the campus community, maintain a welcoming and affirming campus environment, strengthen prospects for inclusive scholarship and learning, and engage the greater Philadelphia area through outreach and community engaged-partnership.
- Offer recommendations to the Office of the Provost and in particular the Associate Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion that provide pathways to best practices and inclusive excellence throughout the SJU University community.

Trans-Inclusion Working Group
The Trans-Inclusion Working Group (TIWG) convenes to address the needs of gender non-conforming campus members. The University’s mission of “striving to be an inclusive and diverse community that educates and cares for the whole person” guides the working group’s consideration of the following questions:
- In what ways do our policies and procedures allow transgender, genderqueer and non-binary students, faculty and staff to experience equity, safety, inclusion and care?
- What steps might we take to create a trans inclusive climate for all members of the Saint Joseph’s community?
The working group operated from a framework of providing universal access to the campus environment and opportunities; thus, all of our implementation recommendations will strengthen inclusion for inclusion for transgender, genderqueer and non-binary students, faculty and staff, as well as other underrepresent groups on campus.
