Discount and Financial Aid Policy

NOTE: This policy is applicable only to financial assistance available through the Kinney Center to be applied to the fees or costs charged for participation in the Kinney Center’s programs other than the ASPIRE program. This policy is separate from, and does not apply to, any financial assistance, financial aid, grants, scholarships, awards or other funding available via various local, state and federal government programs or via Saint Joseph’s University and applicable to any tuition, fees or other costs of Saint Joseph’s University’s programs and services and the ASPIRE program. In the event of a conflict between this policy and any other Saint Joseph’s University policy or procedures, the terms and conditions of the Saint Joseph’s University policy or procedures will apply.

The Kinney Center reserves the right to change this policy, any application process and any funding or programs, at any time without prior notice.

A limited number of financial assistance scholarships to be applied to fees or costs charged for participation in certain Kinney Center programs may be available to applicants with strong financial needs. These will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents/guardians are encouraged to apply for financial assistance before applying to programs.

Families can apply for financial aid online here.  Documentation of financial need is required. Acceptable documentation includes a current version of one of the following:

1. Copy of recent unemployment or welfare check

2. Letter of financial determination from the state, indicating eligibility for unemployment

3. Copy of tax return (for all parents/guardians)

Financial aid applications are renewed annually on July 1.  The Kinney Center reserves the right to award scholarships based upon extenuating circumstances as determined by the Executive Director.

Exceptions and restrictions to the use of financial aid include:

  • Any discount offered cannot be applied to ASPIRE, the Camp application fee of $25, adult night out, or family night out programming.
  • Financial aid cannot be applied to payments being covered by a third party including but not limited to; the Office of Developmental Program, a school district, trust, or NOREP agreement.
  • Financial aid cannot be combined with any other Kinney Center discount, including, but not limited to, the sibling discount or employee discounts.
  • No discount, credit or other financial assistance awarded may exceed the amount charged by the Kinney Center for the applicable program(s), nor can it be applied to any program(s), fees, tuition, registration or costs other than for Kinney Center programs.
  • ASPIRE students seeking aid should indicate need by emailing Program Director, Theresa McFalls at tmcfalls@sju.edu. Awards for the ASPIRE program will be determined in collaboration with the Office of Financial Aid at Saint Joseph’s University and therefore this policy does not apply

SIBLING DISCOUNT

The Kinney Center recognizes the financial strain created when a family is seeking programmatic support for multiple children with autism. The Kinney Center’s Sibling Discount Policy provides 15 percent off for siblings with autism enrolled in the same program.

  • Cost for first child attending: full price
  • Cost for second child attending: 15% off

Sibling discounts do not apply to the ASPIRE program or to any program for which reduced pricing for siblings is already available, such as for Family Nights Out and Camp Kinney.

EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT

Saint Joseph’s University is proud to offer the immediate family members of faculty and staff the opportunity to apply to the Center’s programs. After 90 days of employment, faculty and staff may apply on behalf of their immediate family members (defined as children, step-children, siblings and step-siblings) for any approved Kinney Center programs at a 50% discount off of the normal program fee (the Adult Day and the Transitional Day Services are not included in this benefit). Parents of neurotypical children (defined as individuals of typical developmental, intellectual, and cognitive abilities who are not autistic or have another developmental issue) who are interested in enrolling their child(ren) into Camp Kinney can do so at a reduced rate of $100 per week. Children in this category are limited to no more than 20% of overall Camp enrollment. All Kinney Center programs are filled on a first-come-first-served basis, and acceptance is dependent upon all other program requirements (i.e. application, physical, etc.).
