Pharmacy Dean's Message
Welcome to Philadelphia College of Pharmacy!
What an exciting time to be the dean of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (PCP)! Having just celebrated our bicentennial year in 2021, we continue to honor the founding of the college in 1821 as the first college of pharmacy in the country and our continued spirit to innovate teaching, practice and research.
In addition to our legacy pharmacy program, PCP offers outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs in the pharmaceutical sciences and pharmaceutical and healthcare business. Our postgraduate residencies and fellowships train new pharmacists in direct patient care and prepare them for careers in the pharmaceutical industry. Graduates of all of our programs are leaders in pharmacy, research and the related healthcare fields.
There are so many things about PCP that make me proud. In the fall of 2018, we launched a new and innovative competency-driven pharmacy curriculum which is delivered in the state-of-the-art Integrated Professional Education Complex (IPEX). This 57,000-square-foot, three-story building is sleek, modern, and bright and provides innovative learning spaces, simulations rooms, conference areas, and student lounge space. It is a hub for interprofessional learning where students from the college can collaborate with students in our many healthcare programs.
PCP is special to me in so many ways. In addition to being a proud dean, I am also a proud two-time alumnus! Although I spent nearly 30 years away, when I returned, I knew I was home. I often describe my undergraduate pharmacy college experience as “transformative.” My goal is that each student who passes through these halls will have that same special experience and our faculty, staff and I are committed to reaching that goal.
The knowledge and skills our students gain at PCP follows them well beyond the campus. I am especially proud of the college’s extensive alumni network. Upon graduation, our alumni follow many different paths that take them all over the world. But they never fail to return to mentor and help the next generation of graduates.
I encourage you to take a moment to learn more about us. I am confident you will like what you see. Whether you are a prospective or current student, parent, alumni or friend of PCP, do not hesitate to reach out to me!
