Mission

Serve, Support, Educate, Empower

The Women's Center at Saint Joseph's University works to create a campus community in which everyone can learn, live, and work in an environment of mutual respect, understanding, and inclusion. Through a variety of resources, events, and programming, the Women's Center aims to address the gender-related experiences of students, staff, and faculty across the University. In the spirit of cura personalis, the Women's Center focuses on social justice through an intersectional lens and strives to be an empowering safe space for conversation, collaboration, education, and resources.

Who We Are

The Women’s Center is located in the Saint Albert’s Annex on Lapsley Lane on the Hawk Hill Campus and is managed by the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’s Faculty Liaison for Gender Equity and LGBTQIA+ Inclusion and a team of undergraduate and graduate students. We offer numerous opportunities to become involved with the Women’s Center, and we invite members of the SJU community to contribute to our efforts by interning, advising, working in, or even donating to the Center.

Who We Serve

All are welcome in the Women’s Center. As a gender-inclusive space, we are committed to supporting the needs of our SJU community and serving students, staff, and faculty of all gender identities and expressions. We provide an inclusive environment in which everyone can comfortably access resources, hold meetings, host events, study, spend time with others, or even take a break.

What We Do

The SJU Women's Center serves as SJU’s umbrella for gender-related programs, initiatives, events, and resources. Our purpose is to provide a diversified experience with an eye towards social justice leadership in the areas of gender equity, identity, and access in one collaborative location. We sponsor and promote a variety of programs and events that educate the campus community about the systemic gender-related aspects of health and wellness, safety, leadership, professional development, and mentoring.

Home to the Career Closet and Operation Tampon, the Women’s Center team organizes social justice initiatives across the University and seeks to provide basic needs for all members of the SJU community, often in partnership with other University organizations and offices.
