RE: 2020 Election
DATE: September 23, 2020
In November, some of you -- especially our undergraduate students -- will cast their very first ballots in a presidential election. Whether you are a first-year student still new to campus, or a tenured professor, you know that engaged citizenship is a key tenet of a St. Joe’s education and our Jesuit tradition.
In keeping with these values, the University is planning a series of educational events, trainings and discussions under the umbrella “Election 2020: Ready, Vote, Engage.” Please avail yourself of these resources to learn and prepare for the election.
The right to vote is among the most sacred and special rights we have as Americans. As Fr. Ted Hesburgh, CSC, renowned president of the University of Notre Dame for 35 years, said, “Voting is a civic sacrament.” Let’s heed that advice.
