Prevention Education for Community Members
The Office of Title IX and Equity Compliance seeks to promote a safe and inclusive working, learning, and living environment at SJU by supporting prevention, education, and advocacy efforts within our community. Some of the offices and programs offering such education and outreach are:
Training of University Administrators Involved in the Title IX Grievance Process
On May 19, 2020, the U.S. Department of Education issued a Final Rule under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The full text of the Final Rule and its extensive Preamble are available here. The Final Rule requires that schools make public the materials used to train the individuals who implement its sexual harassment policies and procedures.
Saint Joseph’s University is a member institution of the SUNY Student Conduct Institute (SCI). The Director of the Office of Title IX & Equity Compliance (Title IX Coordinator), Director and Assistant Director of the Office of Community Standards, external Investigators, Sanctioning Officers, and Appeals Panel Members receive required training through the SCI. The University engages external Hearing Officer Elizabeth Malloy, Esq. to adjudicate matters under the Interim Title IX Grievance Policy. Ms. Malloy received required training through law firm Cozen O’Connor. To view the Cozen O’Connor training materials, please click here.
