Academic Adventure Passport Program
What Is the Passport Program?
The America250 Passport Program at Saint Joseph’s University is an opportunity for students to engage deeply with the history, culture, and ongoing story of the United States as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.
Students who choose to participate will receive an official Passport, which serves as a record of their experiences throughout the program. Each time a student completes an eligible activity—whether a course, event, internship, or volunteer experience—they earn a stamp in their Passport.
By completing a set of five qualifying experiences, students will earn the America250@SJU designation, a meaningful credential they can showcase on their résumé, LinkedIn profile, or graduate school applications. This designation signals initiative, curiosity, and a commitment to engaged learning beyond the classroom.
How It Works
The Passport Program is designed to be flexible, interdisciplinary, and accessible.
Students can earn stamps by participating in a wide range of opportunities across campus and beyond. These experiences are intentionally varied, allowing students to explore topics and formats that align with their interests, schedules, and academic goals.
Earn your five stamps through:
- Academic courses
- Campus events and programs
- Internships and volunteer experiences
- Cultural and community-based activities
There is no single path through the program—students are encouraged to create a personalized journey that reflects their interests and goals.
Courses Connected to America250@SJU
In Spring 2026 and Fall 2026, a curated selection of courses from across the University will incorporate themes related to America250.
These courses will explore the American experience through multiple lenses, including:
- History and politics
- Culture and identity
- Social change and justice
- Art, literature, and media
Participating courses will be designated in the course schedule, making it easy for students to identify opportunities that fit within their academic plans.
Events & Experiences Throughout 2026
Each semester in 2026, the University will host a dynamic lineup of events designed to bring America250 themes to life outside the classroom.
Programming will include:
- A film series exploring key moments and perspectives in American history
- A lecture series featuring faculty, scholars, and guest speakers
- Exhibitions at the Maguire Museum and the Marvin Samson Museum for the History of Pharmacy
New events and opportunities will be added throughout the year, encouraging students to stay engaged and continue building their Passport.
Internships & Volunteer Opportunities
The Saint Joseph’s University Career Center has developed a dedicated America250@SJU collection to help students connect their academic interests with real-world experience.
These opportunities allow students to apply what they’re learning, build professional skills, and expand their networks—all while earning Passport credit.
