Graduate Salute
Overview
The Graduate Salute is your one-stop shop to help with all of your graduation needs. Graduate Salute will be held:
*If you are unable to attend the Graduate Salute, you may purchase your regalia online, as well as your ring, diploma frame and announcements.
Apply to Graduate
If you plan on completing the requirements for your degree during the spring semester or have less than two courses remaining for summer and plan to attend commencement, you are required to apply to graduate by March 15, 2024. If you do not submit a graduation application by the deadline, your degree will not be awarded on time.
Please note, you must apply to graduate, even if you do not plan on participating in the commencement ceremony. Your degree will not be conferred unless you submit a graduation application. Also note, all curriculum changes must be made prior to submitting your graduation application. Majors and minors cannot be changed after submitting a graduation application.

Attend Graduate Salute
When you arrive at Doyle Banquet Hall or the Athletic/Recreation Center, you will provide your major and height, and a staff member will pull your regalia for purchase. Pricing is as follows:
- Bachelor: $75.98
- Master's: $81.98
- Doctoral: $92.98
After the graduate salute, pricing is as follows:
- Bachelor’s: $80.98
- Master’s: $86.98
- Doctoral: $97.98
During the Graduate Salute, you may purchase your diploma frame, order your class ring and graduation announcements, and have a portrait taken (see below).
If you cannot attend the Graduate Salute, you may purchase your regalia in the bookstore or order online at sju.shopoakhalli.com , as well as your ring, diploma frame and announcements .
Other Things to Do
Get Your Portrait Taken
During Graduate Salute, you have the opportunity for a free photo session of you in your cap and gown with Melissa Kelly Photography. Sign up in advance by visiting the appointment site and clicking on your preferred time slot. Photo sessions will take place in the Campion Student Center or Athletic/Recreation Center during the Graduate Salute and will be available in 10-minute increments.
If you would like a picture in your cap and gown, please make sure you arrive in time to purchase your cap and gown on-site prior to your appointment time. Ironed and steamed gowns will be available to use for portraits, but graduates will need to supply their own hoods, hats, and tassels from their regalia pack.
Once proofs are ready, you will be emailed information on how to view and purchase your photos and the packages available to choose from.

It’s an SJU tradition for members of the senior class to contribute the dollar equivalent of their class — in this case, $20.24 — to support future Hawks.
