Artificial intelligence is reshaping the workplace faster than any technology in our lifetimes — changing entry-level jobs, shifting employer expectations and transforming which skills are valued. That reality extends to the way faculty teach and conduct research, to the conversations in classrooms, to the demands Saint Joseph’s graduates will face in their careers, and to the types of leaders this world will need. Saint Joseph’s University is prepared to meet the moment.
The Initiative for Human Formation in an Age of AI is a funded, multi-year commitment impacting every part of the University. Its goal is to prepare students, faculty and staff for an AI-driven future through faculty development and pedagogical innovation, a deepened student experience grounded in core human competencies, and investment in how we advance our collaborative work as an institution.
Artificial intelligence is changing how students learn, how faculty teach, how employees work and the professions graduates will enter. Saint Joseph’s is responding by strengthening what matters most in today’s environment: human judgment and the formation of the whole person along with rigorous academic preparation for the workplace of tomorrow. This is not a technology initiative at the margins of the University. It is a University-wide, multi-year commitment to prepare our students, faculty and staff for an AI-shaped future, while ensuring that technology serves our mission and our humanity — not the other way around."
