On The Job: Meadow Baran BS ’28
Meadow Baran, BS ’28 spent six months interning on Cencora’s U.S. Supply Chain Finance team, gaining hands-on experience in corporate finance and supply chain operations.
Meadow Baran, BS ’28, a double major in finance and quantitative economics, spent six months as an intern at Cencora working on the U.S. Supply Chain Finance team. She learned important corporate and life skills relating to finance, all while using her experiences from Saint Joseph’s University as a foundation.

The Day-to-Day:
My role was helping calculate employee salaries across multiple departments to make sure that we were staying within our budget. In addition to this, I helped analyze monthly budget variances for certain invoices. These invoices were likely for employee development, FedEx or any technology/website platforms.
Every day my workload would be similar but different. For example, I would complete the same things such as analyzing Excel files to find certain information, making complex excel formulas or helping with monthly variance analysis and tracking; however, each task was for a new reason with new data.
It's 10 a.m. on a workday, what are you up to:
I would likely be beginning the climax of my morning workload, as I would usually get new assignments first thing in the morning or last minute the previous day.
Go-to snack or drink that gets you through the day:
A cold zero sugar Dr. Pepper in the early afternoon. Sometimes if I was extra tired, any Redbull would do the trick.
Any experience is a ‘good experience’. Internships allow you to work in a differently pacedenvironment away from school, while still expanding your knowledge and skills. By interning,you gain valuable experience while also finding what you want your future career to be.

My “I nailed it” moment:
My “I nailed it” moment happened during my final meetings with everyone on my team. I did not realize how much of an impact I had actually made on my team until the time for my employee review and final regards.
Favorite part of your role:
Chatting with my coworkers during and after lunch! Everyone I interacted with was incredibly personable and professional. Any time my mood needed to be lifted midday, I knew I could always count on these individuals to help. I also loved being able to ask questions about my workload and always get a straightforward, helpful answer.
Fit check:
Dress pants, nice shirts and sweaters, kitten heels and (usually) a blowout.
Tips for the next intern:
Don’t rush through your tasks! Interns usually do not get that much work — if you rush through your tasks, not only are you going to be bored the rest of the day, but your work is likely going to be incorrect in some way. On the off chance you do have any free time, use it to learn more about your role through LinkedIn Learning or network — both are super important and help you to maximize your benefit at a company.
