Trinity Rowles, AAS ‘26, a cardiovascular technology student, is in her final year of the two-year CVT program at Saint Joseph’s University in Lancaster. It was during her clinical at xx hospital where she gained the confidence and reassurance that she will flourish in her role at a certified CVT.

The Role:

Registered cardiovascular invasive specialist (CVT)

Describe your internship in three emojis:

🏥 (hospital)

🫀 (anatomical heart)

🩻 (x-ray)

The Day-to-Day:

Everyday you do a variety of minimally invasive procedures, however there are emergencies that do occur that get your adrenaline pumping.

It’s 10 a.m. on a workday, what are you up to?

I am just getting done with my 2nd or 3rd heart catheterization, turning over the sterile environment for the next case with an exception of maybe having a little snack time if time allows.

Go-to snack or drink that gets you through the day:

Starbucks vanilla ice coffee latte and a Chobani protein yogurt drinks!

My “I nailed it” moment:

When my preceptor told me she could probably leave me to do diagnostics on my own with her there if I needed to. For legal reasons, she has to be scrubbed in with me. That just gave me the confidence and reassurance that I'm going to flourish in this role!

Favorite part of your role:

Seeing all the moving and intricate parts of the heart while it’s still beating.

Fit check:

Scrubs, a scrub cap, water resistant shoes, lead apron, lead vest, lead glasses and a mask during cases.

Tips for the next intern:

Don’t beat yourself over mistakes. You’re a student, this is your time to make mistakes and learn from them! Allow yourself grace.
