Community Engagement
Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Drive - November
This event provides an opportunity for the SJU community to create Turkey Baskets, which include a full Thanksgiving meal, to be shared with those less fortunate. Baskets are collected either Monday or Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and transported to community partners addressing food insecurity issues in the local Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs. Project HOME and GrandsSteppingUp have been our most recent recipients of this successful food drive. Baskets consist of a frozen turkey, potatoes, stuffing, seasonal vegetables, cranberry, applesauce, jar of gravy, dinner rolls and dessert.*
* Annual curbside support provided by Coach Fritz and the SJU baseball team.

Virtual Giving Tree - early December
The virtual giving tree is an SJU event where staff, administration and faculty are given the opportunity to support families in need during the holiday season. Families in need are indicated by employees and wish lists are created of items that the family desires to receive for Christmas gift giving. The links to the wishlists are shared with the campus community and items are purchased and shipped directly to the family in need.
